'Mission: Possible' Food Safety Detectives
From November 11th-13th, children in Year 4 were trained by a special secret agent from the Food Standards Agency. The children were given a briefcase of high-tech goodies to take home to detect whether their own kitchens were hygienic! Lots was learnt over the course of the week, and the children really enjoyed dressing up as secret agents and spies to get into the mood of things! Back to top
The Ruthless Romans!
On Tuesday 3rd November, Key Stage 2 kick started their new topic on 'The Ruthless Romans' by visiting the Roman Museum at Alcester Heritage Centre. This was a brilliant way to engage the children in the new topic, with the highlight being meeting a 'real' Roman soldier who allowed us to try on some of his rather heavy uniform! Notice also that the picture shows our class bear, Romeo, who will be spending time with each of the children over the coming months to enable them to write diary entries for him. In this way, we hope to promote writing throughout the school in a fun way. Back to top
Splashing About on the River
On Wednesday 14th October, children in Year 4 crewed 3 boats and rowed down the River Avon between Pershore and Fladbury. We rowed under bridges, through locks and up to weirs, thoroughly enjoying ourselves but ending up extremely tired! By the end of the day, all had agreed that it had been the best school trip ever! Harvest 2009
This year, children in Year 4 delivered the produce donated for our Harvest assembly to residents living in the Almonry and Roland Rutter Court. After singing a few Harvest songs, the children loved meeting the men and women living here and really enjoyed telling them about all the lovely things we have been doing at school this term. Shocking Electricity!
In Key Stage 2 this term, our topic is 'Shocking Electricity!'. The children will be learning about all aspects of electricity, from making their own circuits for alarm systems to learning about the safety issues surrounding electricity. The topic is very 'hands-on' and all the children have loved what we have done so far. Back to top
Orienteering
This term, our new Year 4 class have been very lucky to receive lessons in orienteering. Over the course of the Autumn term, the children will be practising to read maps and find orienteering 'kites' throughout the school grounds. This will undoubtedly come in handy on our KS2 residential trip to the Malvern Outdoor Centre next summer. Back to top
Goodbye Class of 2009!
As the school year draws to an end, we wish all those children who are moving on the very best of luck. This year's Year 4 class have been wonderful and will be truly missed by the school. Back to top
The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe
Key Stage 2 ended the school year with a bang, as they performed a stunning piece of theatre for mums and dads to see. Everybody worked so hard during rehearsals and the final outome was astonishing, with some excellent individual performances from the children. Following a brilliant few weeks of acting, singing and dancing, the children all deserve a well earned rest over the summer holidays! Back to top
A Day In The Life Of A Pershore Monk
As part of our current cross-curricular topic on Pershore, the children have been learning about monastic life in Pershore. To make this more real, the children got dressed up in monks' robes and headed over to Pershore Abbey to engage in a re-enactment of what it would have been like to live as a monk. The children learnt a great deal about the history of the Abbey and ended the visit with a monk's meal...in complete silence! Back to top
